ABOUT JANA
Jana Ireijo lives and works in Honolulu, Hawai’i. After graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Hawai’i at Manoa, she received an MFA in Painting from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. Jana creates vanishing murals that illustrate the effects of the environment due to climate change.

Her work also shines a spotlight on the corresponding issues of environmental and social justice. She uses mediums that carry their own stories, such as foraged wildfire charcoal, fresh and saltwater from local sources, and natural pigments gathered from where the art is created. The murals are temporary and return to earth with the elements.

Jana’s murals and paintings have been exhibited internationally. Recent career highlights were creating a Vanishing Coral Reef mural for The Nature Conservancy in Maui, and being curated by Judy Chicago into the Turner Carroll Gallery’s “Solstice: Create Art for Earth” exhibition in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
